There may be no greater purpose for an educational system than to provide ALL learners – including those with dyslexia – with effective, evidence-based instruction. That instruction should build language and literacy knowledge; it should cultivate skills that allow students to enjoy lives full of learning and success. This session will provide an overview of Ohio’s new dyslexia requirements and a brief introduction into the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy.
“You can’t improve what you don’t measure.” - Michael Hyatt. The District and School Diagnostics have changed format! This session will focus on the redesign of the school and district diagnostic reports, as well as a brief refresher on Value Added. Learn this material through hands-on exploration of the new additions to these EVAAS reports. You will leave this session equipped with the tools to help you accurately read the reports and develop a data-driven plan for the school year.
One year into OTES 2.0…let’s talk about lessons learned and best practices moving forward. We will review the law and requirements and how these things work on a practical basis. Bring a copy of your 2021-2022 PGP. We will spend time reviewing and you will leave with a plan for the 2022-2023 school year.
Participants will receive information regarding all requirements for Years 1 & 3 of the Resident Educator Program. As applicable, participants will also receive information on the Resident Educator Summative Assessment (RESA) and strategies for classroom management, and be given time to discuss requirements and strategies with their ODE-certified Resident Educator mentor. This session is only for Resident Educator Years 1 & 3 (and their mentors) who are served by the NwOESC through the Resident Educator Mentor Program agreement.
